I'm Janice C. Beckett, and I'm running for Congress in Ohio's 10th District to bring expertise, steadiness, and integrity to the people I serve.

I was born and raised in Vandalia, Ohio. I graduated from Vandalia Butler High School, earned dual degrees in Music and Political Science from Ohio Northern University, and received my law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.

Ohio has been my home my entire life, and the values I grew up with here — hard work, fairness, responsibility, and looking out for your neighbors — are the values I've carried through every stage of my career.

I spent nearly forty years in federal service, advising senior leaders at the U.S. Air Force and the Department of Defense. As Deputy General Counsel of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, I provided counsel on matters involving foreign governments, Congress, federal agencies, and the media. I worked on foreign military sales, international grants and loans, Building Partner Capacity programs, and the legal frameworks that shape our relationships with allies and partners around the world.

As Chief of Labor Law for the Air Force Materiel Command, I guided leadership through politically sensitive issues affecting a 62,000-person civilian workforce and represented the Air Force before the Merit Systems Protection Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Federal Labor Relations Authority. Earlier in my career, I served as lead counsel for major Air Force weapon systems — including the F-16, B-1, B-2, F-15, Predator, and Global Hawk — and negotiated precedent-setting international agreements.

That career taught me what it means to solve hard problems under pressure, to work across agencies and across borders, and to put public service above politics. I'm running for Congress because I believe the people of this district deserve a representative who brings that same seriousness and dedication to the issues that matter most to their daily lives.

I want to make life more affordable for working families. The cost of living is too high, and too many people are working harder than ever just to stay in place. I will fight for policies that bring real relief — on housing, health care, groceries, and the everyday expenses that stretch family budgets to the breaking point.

I believe a woman's right to choose must be protected. Reproductive freedom is a fundamental right, and I will stand against any effort to take that decision away from women and their families.

I believe every citizen should have easy, secure access to the ballot. Voting is the foundation of our democracy, and I will work to strengthen voting rights — not restrict them.

I support immigration reform that is orderly, humane, and workable. We need a system that reflects both our values and our practical needs as a nation, and I believe we can build one if we approach the issue with honesty and good faith.

I am committed to confronting climate change with the seriousness and urgency it demands. The science is clear, the threat is real, and the cost of inaction is too high. I support practical steps to reduce emissions, invest in clean energy, strengthen climate resilience, and create good-paying jobs in the process. For me, addressing climate change is not only an environmental issue — it is an economic and national security imperative.

And I believe in equal rights and dignity for every American — regardless of race, sex, color, national origin, religion, or sexual identity. Social justice is not a slogan. It is a commitment I have carried throughout my life and my career, and one I will bring with me to Congress.

I'm not a career politician. I'm someone who has spent a lifetime solving complex problems in service to this country, and I'm ready to put that experience to work for the people of Ohio's 10th District.
